Norton Rose Fulbright opens in Luxembourg with new team

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has today announced it is opening an office in Luxembourg. The new office in Luxembourg will be fully operational from June 2017.

Norton Rose Fulbright’s new office in Luxembourg will primarily serve the firm’s corporate, tax, funds, banking and capital markets practice areas - to meet the growing demand for integrated, international legal services.

The newly appointed team will be led by Stéphane Braun, most recently founding partner of BS Avocats, who will be working alongside partners Manfred Dietrich (funds) and Raquel Guevara (tax).

Stéphane Braun has 14 years’ experience in Luxembourg advising on all aspects of banking, debt and equity capital markets transactions, securitisations, asset financing and secured syndicated lending, regulatory matters relating to financial services, corporate, contract and commercial laws, restructuring and insolvency and clearing and settlement.

Manfred Dietrich* joins as an investment fund and asset management partner. He has over 16 years of experience in Luxembourg, which includes setting-up, restructuring, marketing, operation and liquidation of Luxembourg investment funds and vehicles as well as advising managers, depositaries and service providers in the funds sector on the structuring, setting-up and operation of their Luxembourg entities. Manfred is also involved in advising EU and non-EU investment managers on the implementation and compliance with the EU AIFM Directive in Luxembourg.

Raquel Guevara* has 14 years’ experience in Luxembourg and focuses on cross-border tax planning, in particular working on private equity structuring for private clients and investments funds, real estate investments, e-commerce and IP structuring, supervising tax audits, tax planning projects and performing tax and legal due diligence examinations. She has also been involved in the development of tax effective structures including hybrid instruments designed for different kinds of (US) investors and tailor-made management equity programs for top tier management.

The new office in Luxembourg, which will be fully operational from June, follows Norton Rose Fulbright’s recent expansion in the US (San Francisco), Canada (Vancouver), Monaco, Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea) and Africa (Uganda, Zimbabwe). In February 2017, Norton Rose Fulbright and Chadbourne & Parke announced they will combine in the second quarter of 2017.
