Sub-Saharan Africa has some of Africa’s most startling growth rates. Some countries in the region have experienced GDP growth of as much as seven per cent consecutively for the last eight years. Ethiopia is developing fast and Tanzania has some of the biggest gold reserves in Africa.

In 2012, we reinforced our commitment to Tanzania by opening an office in Dar es Salaam. This is a natural hub for businesses seeking to invest in its mineral, agricultural and energy resources as well as its growing consumer market.

We are a market leader in banking and finance, advising clients on financing structures, some of which may be untested in the region. We have worked on numerous transactions in almost every sub-Saharan African country and understand its disparate English, French and Portuguese-influenced legal systems, local practices and trade protocols. We have worked on M&A, bank finance, project development and finance, particularly in the mining and energy sectors.

Infrastructure development has been the dominant focus for foreign investment in this part of Africa. We are providing legal assistance on a range of ports, rail and mining projects. Our experience also covers engineering, telecoms, real estate, energy (including renewable energy), insurance, M&A, competition and labour.
