Tessa is a banking and finance lawyer based in Sydney.
She focuses in trade and structured finance as well as debt capital markets, securitisation and derivatives.
Tessa is dual UK/Australian qualified and has worked with a range of financial institutions, energy, infrastructure, mining and governmental clients on Australian, European, US and Asian transactions. She joined the practice in 2011, having previously been General Counsel of Australia’s export credit agency, EFIC, and a partner in a major Australian law firm. Tessa began her career in our London office and spent more than ten years as a banking and finance lawyer in the UK.
Her experience includes project and development finance, trade and receivables financing, debt capital markets and securitisation, general secured and unsecured corporate financing, structured finance, derivatives and innovative investment products. She has also advised on financial services and bank regulatory issues and has interacted with corporate and bank regulators in Australia and offshore jurisdictions.
Tessa has been recognised as a leading or recommended lawyer in Chambers Global 500, IFLR Top 1000 and PLC Which Lawyer.
Tessa has been an active member of a number of industry bodies (Australian Securitisation Forum, Australian Financial Markets Association, International Swaps and Derivatives Association and the International Bar Association) and has presented and written on a range of legal and regulatory issues. She has a B.Juris from UNSW, BA (Law) and MA (Honorary) from Cambridge University and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
