Matthew Lau conducts legal research in all areas of our Canadian common law practice. Mr. Lau prepares opinions and provides advice to our clients and lawyers and also prepares legal arguments for significant litigation.
Mr. Lau joined our office as a summer student in 2013 and returned to complete his articles with us in 2014-2015. During his articles, Mr. Lau completed a secondment in the Royal Bank of Canada’s general counsel group, where he gained valuable experience working on securities, regulatory and privacy matters.
While completing his business degree at the Schulich School of Business, Mr. Lau also studied on exchange at the University of Bath School of Management in England. Prior to joining us, Mr. Lau spent several months working as prosecutor for the City of Toronto, where he gained experience prosecuting traffic offences at the Ontario Court of Justice.
