Anna is a corporate finance lawyer based in Singapore where she heads Norton Rose Fulbright's Asia insurance practice.

Anna has practiced in the insurance sector since 1994 and, before moving to Singapore in 2010, had over 12 years’ experience in the London transactional insurance market. Anna has extensive experience in corporate matters for insurance companies with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions, bancassurance, and corporate restructuring.

Her additional areas of focus include regulatory capital, structured and alternative risk transfer products and advice on specialist policies, including credit default and political risk, directors & officers liability and warranty & indemnity insurance.

Notable transactions on which Anna has worked include advising a global insurance group on the reorganisation of its Asian business following a strategic acquisition; advising QBE on the insurance regulatory requirements (UK and Solvency II) of two tranches of listed Tier 2 debt (US$1 billion and £325 million); advising a Singaporean insurer on the establishment of a distribution business in Indonesia; advising a global insurer on the consolidation of the strategic and back office functions of five of its Asian insurers into a single processing centre; advising a global insurer on the establishment of a Singapore-based life company and putting existing branch into run-off.

Anna has also worked on a series of pan-European arrangements for the distribution of mobile handset insurance for Vodafone; the disposal by AXA of a substantial part of its UK life insurance business to Resolution; several pensions buy-out / buy-in arrangements; and a series of three contingent loans securitising the emerging surplus of two life Companies and a portfolio of life policies by AEGON companies.

Anna has also acted on a series of Tier 1 capital issues by QBE; the sale of the beneficial interest in a portfolio of residential properties (where the legal interest was retained to support the annuity business of the life insurer) for Swiss Re; the acquisition by Swiss Re of GE’s Life insurance business; and an asset backed Tier 1 capital issue counting as fund at Lloyds for QBE.

Anna has been involved in reviewing and drafting from scratch numerous insurance and reinsurance policies including an in-orbit satellite insurance policy for a new Lloyd’s facility, a multi-line, multi year insurance and reinsurance facility transferring €3.5 billion of risk, fronting insurance and supporting reinsurance arrangements for various distribution arrangements, a combination POSI and D&O policy for a large public takeover in the bank sector and several pensions buyout and longevity transfer contracts.

In the insurance sector Anna is recommended by Chambers and Partners - Asia 2012, 2013 & 2014, with clients describing her as “a very competent lawyer with considerable insurance and transactional experience and the right mix of technical know-how and commercial acumen” and reporting “she is particularly strong in cross-border issues and has an excellent understanding of the transactional side of the industry.” Anna is endorsed in Who’s Who Legal 2014 for Insurance and Reinsurance as a leading insurance lawyer who is ““highly sought after” by insurance companies due to the quality of service she provides”.
