Christine Ezcutari is a structured finance and banking lawyer based in Paris.
Christine joined our Paris practice in January 1997, having qualified as a solicitor in 1995 with an English legal practice in London where she specialised in energy related matters acting for major oil and gas companies and for the European Commission. She became a Partner in 2006.
Christine regularly acts on behalf of large European financial institutions and lessors. Christine has particular experience in structured financings, either in the form of complex multi-jurisdictional financing, tax structures and export credit financings where she acquired a particular expertise. She has advised banks and ship owners on over many ship and export credit financings, including LNG vessels, container vessels, VLCCs and cruise ships. Christine also advises on general commercial matters (charters, sales and lease back). She is in charge of the Paris shipping finance practice and also very active in rail finance.
Christine has acquired a particular expertise in the field of export credit financing and has represented a number of banks in transactions involving SINOSURE, JBIC, Finnvera/FEC, the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (KSURE), the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), Eksportfinans, ONDD, HERMES, Atradius, SERV, SACE and COFACE. She has also acquired expertise dealing with companies established in the Middle East.
Christine is recommended in many legal directories including Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 where her practice “scores at the highest level for its rigour and professionalism”. Christine is “praised for her listening and personal abilities and rigorous writing”. Christine is a member of the Association Française de Droit Maritime and author of the Official Guide to Ship Registry section for France. She is a board member of WISTA France (Women International Shipping and Trading Association).
Christine Ezcutari has been named a Knight of the National Order of Merit (Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite) for her career as a shipping and rail financing lawyer by the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy in a decree promulgated on November 20, 2015.
