Stephanie Stroup, senior counsel in the Los Angeles office, is a member of the firm Consumer Class Actions Task Force. Stephanie has a broad range of litigation experience, including complex commercial litigation, business torts, unfair competition, contract disputes, intellectual property and other commercial issues. She represents clients in national class action litigation for fraud and false advertising claims under state and federal statutes, including the UCL, CLRA, NJCFA, and FDUPTA.  Her cases relate to a broad spectrum of industries including food manufacturers, cosmetics companies, restaurants, supplement manufacturers, homeopathic manufacturers, and various other consumer products sold at retail.

  • Representative experience
    • Represented national paint manufacturer in consumer class action regarding alleged misrepresentations of the environmental benefits and safety of its paint.
    • Represented manufacturer of homeopathic products in consumer class action for alleged false advertising, including 100% Natural Claims.
    • Defending olive oil importer in a series of consumer class actions alleging that its extra virgin olive oil fails to meet standards and is improperly labeled as to country of origin.
    • Defending retailers over claims of deceptive labeling.
    • Defending paint manufacturer in consumer class action regarding alleged misrepresentations of the environmental benefits and safety of its paint.
    • Defending medical device manufacturer in consumer class action alleging misrepresentations regarding quality and performance.
    • Defending online retailer for false advertising claims relating to a gender prediction kit.
    • Represented multiple waste haulers in action for response cost recovery brought under tort laws and the HSAA. Argued and obtained summary judgment for all four defendants
    • Represented heavy machinery manufacturer in five-week jury trial involving prosecution of breach of contract and trade secret misappropriation claims concerning proper ownership and inventorship of fuel injector patents. Drafted motion for summary judgment eliminating defendants' counterclaims for breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation and fraud
    • Part of team serving as national coordinating counsel for environmental litigation for major oil manufacturer. As part of this representation, litigated a multi-party case involving federal and state environmental claims, as well as common law tort liability claims
    • Argued pro bono appeal before the Ninth Circuit
