Eminent domain

Meet the team

Our eminent domain team has worked on projects to acquire infrastructure by eminent domain. Members of this team have worked on infrastructure projects for pipelines, roads, utilities, fiber optic cable and light rail. This team also represents property owners against state and local governments in condemnation proceedings and taking claims.

The goal of our eminent domain team is to assist our clients in acquiring easements as rapidly as possible through negotiations and to reduce the number that must be acquired in condemnation proceedings. Our detail-oriented team of lawyers recognizes the importance of meeting with clients early on in the project’s development to acquire right of way in a timely manner and avoid delays.

Specific examples of our pipeline infrastructure work:

  • Represented a major pipeline company in the acquisition of rights-of-way for a 400 mile long crude oil common carrier pipeline to be constructed across 1400 tracts of land between the Permian Basin and the Houston Gulf Coast.
  • Represented a major pipeline company in the acquisition of rights-of-way for several crude oil common carrier pipelines to be constructed in West Texas.
  • Represented a local governmental entity in the acquisition of rights-of-way for a water pipeline to be constructed across 800 tracts of land in a major Texas metropolitan area.
