Ayman Idlbi drafts and prosecutes mechanical and electromechanical patent applications and industrial designs for many jurisdictions. With a background and master's degree in aerospace engineering, Mr. Idlbi’s experience is particularly suited to inventions in the aircraft, aerospace and aeronautical arts. In addition to his drafting work, his legal training allows him to provide counsel and opinions related to the patentability of inventions, the validity of patents, the risks of patent infringement, and freedom-to-operate for a wide variety of physical products and processes.

In addition to his patent practice, Mr. Idlbi is regularly called upon to give presentations and lectures on drone operations, primarily related to air regulations and standards in the food and agribusiness sector. Mr. Idlbi developed an expertise in this sector, particularly in precision agriculture, where he explored the potential of using drones in crop monitoring and farming management. Recently, Mr. Idlbi was a speaker in a panel discussion organised by the Food & Agribusiness Section of the Canadian Bar Association, where he spoke about the regulatory regime, potential, and challenges of using drones in agribusiness.

Mr. Idlbi is currently completing a master of laws degree at the Institute of Air and Space Law at McGill University. His research topic is motivated through his experience gained in exploring the applications and innovation of drone technology.

Mr. Idlbi started his career in research and development at a company that designed and manufactured aircraft engines, and thereafter pursued activities in design engineering, while he also worked at an aircraft manufacturer. Mr. Idlbi is also a pilot and is pursuing a special flight operations certificate to fly unmanned air vehicles.
