James Cade practises general corporate and commercial law and provides counsel to corporations and their directors and shareholders. He is chair of our Canadian corporate and commercial team.
Mr. Cade’s practice includes providing services to both foreign and Canadian entities concerning commercial relationships and contracts, including service agreements, joint venture and teaming agreements and sale of goods agreements. In addition, he advises businesses on early-stage organization and financing, shareholder relationships, including shareholder disputes, and private company reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions and dispositions. His experience covers a broad range of industries, such as financial services, manufacturing and technology (software, biotechnology and medical devices).

Mr. Cade has acted recently for:
- OMERS, a Canadian pension fund, in connection with a unique joint venture with Dutch pension fund ABP to establish an investment program to deploy €200 million in Canada and the Netherlands over the first five years to invest in knowledge economy start-ups with innovative ideas and technologies
