Robert Percival is a technology, sourcing and information security lawyer based in Toronto.

Mr. Percival's practice is principally devoted to commercial and corporate transactions, with an emphasis on technology sector transactions. He has extensive experience advising clients on a wide array of complex and large-scale information technology / intellectual property transactions across a broad range of industries, including outsourcing, cloud computing, strategic alliances, technology acquisition and transfer, M&A, procurement, licensing, distribution, open source software, privacy and data protection, cyber-security, electronic commerce and the Internet.  

He is a past director of the Canadian Information Technology Law Association and has also been an adjunct professor of Internet and IT law at the University of Victoria. Mr. Percival has over 25 years’ legal and business experience in the technology sector.

  • A public global e-commerce software platform provider in its global cloud services agreement with Google, including data protection, data security and global data transfers advice
  • A leading international technology service provider on numerous outsourcing (ITO and BPO) services transactions with leading North American and international corporations, financial institutions and government agencies
  • An international leader in the areas of telematics, automotive safety and mobile media in numerous technology commercialization joint ventures, licensing and distribution transactions, acquisitions, financings and other matters
  • An Ontario university in its acquisition and implementation of an enterprise cloud SaaS finance application solution
  • A leading retail mall operator in the acquisition and deployment of a retail mobile analytics solution and related privacy law matters with respect to the use of mobile device data
