Hugo Margoc practises corporate and commercial law with a special interest in technology and innovation. Hugo is a member of the restructuring and insolvency group and is particularly interested in institutional investments across all levels of the capital structure in not only stressed, distressed, but also growth situations.

During his articles, Hugo completed a secondment in the Royal Bank of Canada's legal department, where he gained valuable experience working with its financing and corporate services groups.

While in law school, Hugo co-chaired the McGill Shareholder Activism Research Group, a group comprised of students from the honours investment management program and the faculty of law conducting multidisciplinary research in the shareholder activism and corporate governance fields. Hugo also completed an internship with the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and served as the coordinating editor for the McGill Journal of Dispute Resolution.
