Biography
Jonathan Muncey is a corporate and commercial lawyer based in Sydney.
Jonathan's practice has a particular focus on supply and distribution, regulatory compliance, licensing and distribution of products and consumer law. Many of Jonathan's clients are global and national FMCG suppliers, retailers, distributors, and franchisors.
Jonathan advises on a broad range of corporate, commercial and regulatory compliance matters including contract origination and negotiation, compliance with applicable food and consumer products regulations and practices, supply chain management, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance.
Having started his career working for the Office of the Franchising Mediation Adviser, Jonathan has notable experience dealing with franchise systems and has gone on to represent a significant number of preeminent franchise systems in Australia in relation to regulatory compliance, network management, international expansion and dispute resolution.

- Advised the owner of several of Australia's prominent retail food franchises with respect to supply chain management and the re-negotiation of contracts with their wholesale food suppliers arising from a restructure of the client's supply chain.
- Advised the owner of several Australian boutique hospitality brands in relation to securing the Australian master franchise rights for a prominent burger franchise system and associated compliance matters including food importing and country of origin labelling.
- Leading and supervising junior colleagues in relation to large-volume document projects for a prominent Australian mortgage broking network.
- Acting for Ai-Media (ASX:AIM) in relation to the acquisition of two separate US-based audio captioning businesses.
- Advising INEOS Automotive Australia in relation to the rollout of its Australian network.
- Extensive experience advising in relation to mandatory industry standards under the Competition and Consumer Act including the Franchising Code, Horticulture Code and Dairy Code.
