The opportunity to make a difference

After graduating, I was drawn to Norton Rose Fulbright as a global law firm with an excellent reputation for diversity and inclusion. The firm values diversity of thought as a driver of success, and this means tapping into the unique perspectives of people from around the business at all levels.

During my role as a trainee on the graduate scheme, I have had the opportunity to make a difference by co-founding a new firm-wide committee and employee network which champions social mobility. The direct support and encouragement I received from senior management to get the initiative off the ground was excellent. The network successfully launched in July 2020 and aims to widen the firm's access to more socio-economically diverse talent and foster an environment in which everyone can develop to their full potential.

The transferable skills I have gained on the scheme, such as project and stakeholder management, have proved invaluable in helping me to lead the committee effectively. I am now looking forward to increasing the brand presence of the network, whilst continuing to provide support to the many social mobility-focused initiatives the firm is involved in.
