Farmida Bi recognised in Financial News' 50 Most Influential Lawyers

Global Press release - Recognition April 2022

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright’s global Chair, Farmida Bi CBE, has been included in Financial News’ Top Fifty Most Influential Lawyers 2022 list.

The list, which is in its second year, celebrates outstanding leaders in management roles at top-tier firms or practices, as well as executives advising on large and/or innovative mergers and acquisitions, private equity deals, IPOs, equity and debt capital markets transactions, regulation and employment law.

This recognition celebrates Farmida for her leadership as the firm’s EMEA chair since May 2018 and global chair since January 2022. In these roles, Farmida supports the firm’s vision of providing exceptional client service and fostering a culture of inclusivity and connectivity across the firm’s 50+ offices worldwide. Alongside this, she is the firm’s European head of Islamic Finance and continues her practice of debt capital markets.

Farmida’s commitment to furthering diversity and inclusion across the industry is also recognised, with her notably spearheading a number of social mobility initiatives. Most recently, this has included the firm’s charity partnership with Save the Children and launch of the Scholars programme, designed to widen access to the legal profession.

Farmida commented: “I am honoured to be recognised in this list alongside our global head of financial services regulation, Jonathan Herbst. This is a testament to our people globally, who continue to live and demonstrate the firm’s core values and foster a culture of inclusivity and innovation. It is their hard work and commitment that makes us a leading global law firm.”

Last year, Farmida was featured in Financial News’ 100 Most Influential Women in European Finance list for the third consecutive year, celebrated for driving change across the industry. She has also been recognised in the 'Hall of Fame' for Islamic finance and as a 'leading individual' for debt capital markets in The Legal 500 UK 2020, and the HERoes Top 100 Role Model List 2020 and 2019.

Farmida is a partner sponsor and steering group member for the firm’s Women in Norton Rose Fulbright network (WiN), a Pride Ally for the firm’s Pride network and a steering group member of Compass, a faith network supporting and educating Muslims and non-Muslims.

Norton Rose Fulbright’s global head of financial services regulation, Jonathan Herbst, also features in Financial News’ Fifty Most Influential Lawyers 2022 list.
