Norton Rose Fulbright enhances Brussels competition team with major partner hire

Global Press release April 2022

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has appointed standout competition practitioner Miranda Cole as a senior partner in its Brussels antitrust and competition team.

Miranda joins from Covington & Burling, in Brussels, where she was a senior partner with a broad competition practice focussed on the technology and life sciences sectors.

The appointment of Miranda, who is a key adviser to many of the largest life sciences and technology companies globally, will enhance the breadth and depth of Norton Rose Fulbright’s global antitrust and competition team, which is already recognised as one of the global elite practices. This move comes at a time when innovative sectors, including technology and life sciences, are both expanding and coming under increasing scrutiny from governments and competition authorities.

Miranda has extensive experience advising clients on strategic mandates in the areas of merger control, abuse of dominance, anticompetitive agreements, and compliance and advisory work. She is also heavily involved in supporting clients in aligning their competition policy engagement in the context of a variety of new regulatory frameworks.

Miranda Cole said: “I am thrilled to be joining Norton Rose Fulbright’s team in Brussels. Competition and antitrust authorities across the world continue to revisit the rules relating to a range of technology issues which are becoming all pervasive, as technology underpins ever more industries. In parallel, the growth of genetic, personalised and immune-based therapies is changing the face of healthcare. In this unprecedented period, it is vital for companies to be taking an international perspective, and Norton Rose Fulbright has the strength, expertise and global reach to advise clients on these business-critical issues holistically.”

Ian Giles, head of antitrust and competition at Norton Rose Fulbright, Europe, Middle and Asia, said: “We are delighted that Miranda will be joining our Brussels office, and our global antitrust and competition team. Miranda has extremely impressive experience, particularly across technology and life sciences, and has worked with many of the top companies in these sectors. This hire demonstrates our ongoing commitment to developing our top tier antitrust team, and building our Brussels capabilities at the heart of the EU in this time of significant regulatory change. Miranda’s appointment will further enhance our offering, allowing us to best serve our clients with deep expertise across all the major centres of competition enforcement.”

Norton Rose Fulbright’s award winning team of over 150 antitrust and competition lawyers, located across 20 countries and five continents, advises on all aspects of antitrust law, including multinational mergers and clearances, cartels, abuse of dominance, international investigations, compliance and antitrust litigation.
