Clare Jackman is an intellectual property lawyer and trade mark attorney based in London.

She focuses on all aspects of UK, European and International brand protection involving clearance searching, filing, prosecution and portfolio management. Clare also handles designs and domain name registration and management. She also advises in relation to copyright issues and IP aspects of transactions and commercial contracts.

As a Trade Mark Attorney, Clare has advised and acted for clients in many different fields but has particular experience in the financial, energy, transport, media, healthcare, retail, consumer brands and luxury goods sectors.

Clare regularly provides strategic advice in connection with international trade mark protection. She conducts clearance searches, devises and coordinates global filing strategies, files and prosecutes UK, EU and International (Madrid) trade mark applications and project manages global filing programs.

Clare’s portfolio management experience includes watching, policing and enforcing trade mark rights internationally. She handles trade mark opposition, invalidity and revocation proceedings and has particular experience in handling large-scale corporate acquisitions and licencing programmes, involving intellectual property portfolios, which then necessitate the preparation and filing of applications to record the transactions at multi-national trade mark registries.

Clare is reported in Legal 500 as being ‘sensible and commercial’.

Clare was previously at a national UK firm and also spent several years in the in-house trade mark team at the Wellcome Foundation Ltd, where she was responsible for all aspects of brand management, including creation, registering, licensing and enforcement. She also had particular responsibility for the Company’s portfolio of trade marks in South East Asia where enforcement, anti-counterfeiting and dealing with the grey market played a major part in the role.

Clare qualified as a lawyer in 1990 and is a member of the Law Society. She qualified as a Trade Mark Attorney in 1993 and is a member (MITMA), and also a Council member, of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys. She is also an associate member of the International Trade Mark Association.
