Matthew Lau is a business lawyer based in Toronto, specializing in advanced legal research, strategy, and analysis across a wide range of practice areas and industries. Matthew's practice includes advising corporations, retailers, financial institutions, and financial service providers on high-stakes and novel transactional, litigation, and regulatory matters. 

Since joining our office as a summer student in 2013, Matthew has extensive experience advising on federal and provincial regulatory frameworks, including consumer protection, advertising, e-commerce, banking and financial services, broadcasting and telecommunications, alcohol and gaming, securities and derivatives, and anti-money laundering.  He has also assisted Schedule I, II and III banks in developing their regulatory compliance management libraries as well as reviewing their corporate policies and consumer-facing documentation to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
