Biography

Julien Bocobza is a banking, projects and export finance lawyer based in London. He focuses on the development, financing, acquisition and disposal of infrastructure and energy projects, predominantly in emerging markets.

Julien has a broad experience of working across the power, water, infrastructure, oil and gas, petrochemicals, renewables and nuclear sectors.

  • Advising JBIC on the Moray Offshore Wind farm in Scotland (while on secondment at JBIC)
  • Representing the lenders on a 850 MW bid for a wind farm in Morocco
  • Advising ACWA Power on the development of a wind farm in Morocco
  • Representing Rosatom in the preparation of a model EPC contracts for foreign NPP projects
  • Representing sponsors on their bid to develop, finance, design, engineer, procure, construct, permit, test, commission, insure, own, operate and maintain the Sweihan PV Plant
  • Advising the sponsors in the bid for the Al-Jouf and Rafha Solar IPPs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
  • Advising the sponsors on the development of the Dorper Wind Farm in South Africa. The project was awarded African Wind Deal of the Year 2012 by Project Finance 
  • Advising the lenders on the development and financing of the first wind project in Pakistan. The project was awarded Middle East Renewables Deal of the Year 2011 by Project Finance
  • Advising the sponsors, including Exxaro and Tata Power, on the development of the Amakhala Wind Farm in South Africa
  • Advising Nordex SE on the development of two wind farms in Turkey
  • Advising Petkim on the development of a wind farm in Turkey

  • Representing Symbion Power on the refurbishment, operation and maintenance of a 40 MW HFO power plant in Mandroseza, Madagascar
  • Representing Symbion Power on the development of 50 MW methane gas to electricity project on Lake Kivu, Rwanda
