Norton Rose Fulbright represents BNP Paribas and Citibank in sustainability-linked financing

Global Press release - Business August 2025

A cross-border team of lawyers from Norton Rose Fulbright represented BNP Paribas and Citibank, N.A. on the closing of a dual currency (US$50 million and EUR 44 million) pre-export finance facility extended to Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio, the largest aluminum producer in Brazil.

The proceeds from the transaction will be used for prefinancing current and future exports of aluminum and related products, as well as other commodities exported by Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio. This sustainability-linked facility, which reached financial close on July 31, 2025, includes a carbon footprint KPI and sustainability performance targets to manage emissions.

The financing is guaranteed by SACE, the Italian insurance and finance group controlled by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, as part of its Push Strategy program, which guarantees loans to international counterparts who commit to increasing their purchase of goods and services from Italy.

Norton Rose Fulbright’s team was led by José Cobeña with support from Dan Spencer, Juliana Souza (São Paulo), Arturo Sferruzza and Giulio Mariano (Milan).
