Paris team advises Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha on acquisition of Total’s shares in Gazocean

Global Press release - Business November 2020

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Japanese group Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) on its acquisition of Total’s stake in Gazocean.

Based in Marseille, France, and responsible for the management of six LNG carriers, Gazocean is now a wholly owned subsidiary of NYK. The move will strengthen NYK’s ship-management system and expand the company’s LNG transportation business in France. Before the purchase, NYK held 20% of Gazocean shares and Total indirectly held 80%.

EMEA Head of Transport and partner Christine Ezcutari led the Paris-based team. Associates Sybille Elleboode-Merlier and Thomas Chneiweiss assisted her on the corporate M&A aspects of the transaction. Elodie Grangier was in charge of the employment law matters.
