Biography

David Isern is a corporate lawyer based in Toronto. His practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and finance with a specific emphasis on private company acquisitions, sales and reorganizations, and assisting start-up and growth-oriented companies commercialize and scale their technologies.

Mr. Isern has acted for vendors and acquirors in share and asset acquisitions and dispositions of companies in various industry sectors, including technology, life sciences, and manufacturing. Additionally, Mr. Isern has experience in negotiating governance documents for private enterprises and regularly advises issuers in exempt market financings, with an emphasis on financings of early- to-mid-stage technology companies.

Having lived in seven countries, Mr. Isern utilizes his extensive international experience to advise clients on multi-jurisdictional matters. He is bilingual and offers legal services in both English and Spanish.

Dedicated to community service, Mr. Isern currently serves as a director on two not-for-profit boards and volunteers as a legal specialist mentor at several start-up incubators. His past community service has included sitting on the University of Toronto's Graduate Appeals Committee and volunteering at the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre where he founded Law for Forces, a pro-bono legal advice service for veterans and members of the armed forces.
