Ian Gosselin
Biography
Ian Gosselin has in-depth experience in infrastructure and construction law as well as product liability, areas in which he has been practicing for over 30 years. His extensive experience has allowed him to take part in a wide range of large-scale projects at different stages of their development and implementation.
Ian's skills are sought after by players in the sector to try to defuse difficult, complex situations early, before disputes arise. In these situations, he frequently acts as a strategic advisor to the members of the project team, simultaneously with the work being carried out, with regard to relations with the client, subcontractors and suppliers, as well as with public and regulatory bodies.
Ian has established a reputation for resolving complex disputes. He has frequently pleaded before civil courts and arbitration tribunals and has cumulated more than 600 days before the courts over the course of his career, which gives him a particular perspective when serving as a mediator to prevent disputes. He also acts as mediator in civil and commercial disputes.
Ian was a member of the firm's partnership committee from 2013 to 2024. He is listed in Best Lawyers in Canada and in the Canadian legal directory Lexpert. He is also a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers.

Civil engineering work
Renovation and relocation of urban infrastructure and public services: integrated Pie-IX Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, North, Central, and South lots; sanitary networks and municipal infrastructure: Rockfield basin – underground concrete wastewater retention basin for the City of Montreal; wastewater treatment and drinking water distribution project for Lac-à-la-Tortue; construction of tunnel pipes and access structures for the Lavigne retention basin, phase 1, for the City of Montreal; wind farms: Seigneurie de Beaupré, Phases 1 and 2, Lac-Alfred; port works: Sept-Îles – construction of a multi-user deep-water wharf; Montreal – development of the Viau sector.
Industrial facilities and buildings
Design and construction of the biomethanization centre in Montreal East; design and construction of the closed building organic waste composting facility in the borough of Ville Saint-Laurent; biomethanization plant at the water treatment plant of the Régie d'assainissement des eaux du bassin de Laprairie (RAEBL); water treatment plant for the Ville de Gatineau; cogeneration plant in Saint-Félicien; cogeneration plant in Chapais; Index Energy cogeneration plant (Ajax); Port-Daniel cement plant – clinker silos and raw mix; refurbishment of the combustion chamber of furnace 1 at the Quebec City incinerator; expansion of the Boisbriand wastewater treatment plant.
