Law360 Pulse ranks firm in its top five in summer associate survey

United States Press release - Recognition September 2023

Norton Rose Fulbright recently placed in the top five in Law360 Pulse's survey polling summer associates on their overall experience at law firms.

The survey conducted by Law360 Pulse included more than 800 responses from 1Ls, 2Ls and 3Ls, as well as part-time and evening students, and covered topics such as compensation fairness, mentorship, pro bono opportunities and team building.

Focusing on fostering a people-first culture, firm leadership recognizes that attracting talented and diverse law students is a critical part of entry-level legal recruiting.

Jeff Cody, Norton Rose Fulbright's US Managing Partner, said:

"At Norton Rose Fulbright, culture is a top priority. We value authenticity, collaboration and client service, and these areas of focus naturally extend to our summer associates. Our program is intended to help boost the skills and knowledge of summer associates, while giving them meaningful opportunities to connect with our lawyers. We hosted a very talented group this summer and are pleased that they enjoyed their experience at the firm."

This year, the firm hosted 63 summer associates from 32 law schools across its US offices. The summer associate class was comprised of 56 percent women and 44 percent men. Thirty-seven percent of the class self-identified as racially diverse. Ten percent of the summer associate offerees openly identified as LGBTQIA+.

Summer associates received several opportunities to connect with firm leadership through trainings, presentations and personal interaction, including a series of small group discussions with US Managing Partner Jeff Cody. Lawyer-hosted legal skills trainings enabled the summer associates to contribute to ongoing client matters. Feedback from the summer associates covered the "encouragement and mentorship" provided by partners, "practical experience you don't get just anywhere else as a summer associate," including "cross-border legal work with truly exceptional, Fortune 20 clients."

Diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives for the summer associates included a US Managing Partner fireside chat hosted by the Racial Equity Council, potluck dinners presented by the Minority Equity Council and a variety of events held by the Women in Norton Rose Fulbright Council.

In addition, the summer associates enjoyed a wide variety of social events, including baseball games, concerts and plays, museum tours, affinity group events and cooking classes.
