As companies find more ways to use big data and algorithms in their businesses, some European authorities fear that these practices will create new and revolutionary challenges for antitrust enforcement.  There have been very few cases so far, however, and some commentators believe that traditional antitrust concepts are up to the big data challenge.  We discuss what the antitrust authorities’ roles will be in the regulation of big data and algorithms, and the potential issues which may arise.
