Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright is pleased to announce that partner Marie Kelly has relocated to its London office, having previous been based in Athens.

Marie Kelly is a disputes lawyer with a special focus in shipping litigation and high value shipping contracts. During the last two years Marie has handled a number of major multijurisdictional shipbuilding contract disputes, charterparty disputes and commercial litigation in the High Court. She is currently leading the team advising Empire Bulkers on its vessel Eleni's collision with Heung A Dragon off the coast of Vietnam, which is one of the largest collision cases to be heard in the Hong Kong courts in recent years.

Before joining the firm in 1998, Marie practised as a barrister in London. She is ranked in the top tier for shipping litigation by Chambers Europe.

Harry Theochari, global head of transport, commented:

“Our litigation offering is an integral part of our leading global shipping practice. With an in-depth understanding of cross-border shipping matters Marie will add significant weight to our London team. Working closely with the Athens and Monaco offices, she will be well placed to continue to support our growing global shipping litigation team on English law matters.”

Deirdre Walker, head of dispute resolution and litigation for Europe, Middle East and Asia commented:

“Marie is an extremely talented litigator with a deep understanding of shipping issues worldwide. Her broad skillset will be a tremendous asset to our multidisciplinary disputes team in London and internationally.”
