Andres C. Garin, senior partner at Norton Rose Fulbright in Montréal, is appointed judge of the Superior Court of Québec

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright is pleased to announce that the Government of Canada has appointed Andres C. Garin, senior partner in the Montréal office, puisne judge of the Superior Court of Québec for the District of Montréal.
The Superior Court of Québec is the court of original jurisdiction in Québec. It hears in first instance, and sometimes on appeal, all cases not expressly assigned to the jurisdiction of another court or administrative body.

Andres joined Norton Rose Fulbright (then Ogilvy Renault) in 2006 and was named partner in 2013. In addition to working on major commercial disputes and class actions, he has handled cases involving constitutional and administrative law issues. He has frequently appeared before all levels of court in the province, including the Federal Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before regulatory agencies and administrative tribunals in the area of constitutional and administrative law across the country. He has also played a key role in mentoring young lawyers, including through his active involvement in the firm's mentoring program .
From 2010 to 2012, Andres had the privilege of serving as executive legal officer to the Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, P.C., Chief Justice of Canada.
Andres holds bachelor’s degrees in civil law from Université de Montréal, in common law from the University of Ottawa and a master of laws from Cambridge University. He was called to the Québec Bar in 1996.
