Business July 13, 2016

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Barclays as arranger on the update of Piraeus Bank’s €10 billion global covered bond programme and the simultaneous amendment of the terms of its outstanding €1.25 billion Series 1 and €750 million Series 2 floating rate covered bonds.

The firm also advised on the renewal of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange regulated market listing of the programme. Simon Thompson, of counsel, comments:

“We are pleased to see considerable renewed activity in the Greek bank market this year, not least involving covered bond and other financing platforms.

“Having worked on transactions in Greece and the surrounding area, particularly Turkey, for a number of years it is also encouraging to see a resurgence of market interest in the wider region in the last few months.” The team advising Barclays was led by of counsel, Simon Thompson, and partner, Sandrine Sauvel, who also acted on the original establishment of the Piraeus Bank programme in 2011 and continue to advise on related transactions.
