Biography

Dan Jackson is a regulatory and disputes lawyer based in San Antonio, Texas.  His practice focuses on representing large financial institutions in complex investigations, enforcement cases, and litigation and arbitration matters, as well as advising on the full range of regulatory issues affecting US broker-dealers and investment advisers. 

Dan regularly represents clients before US financial regulators, including the SEC, FINRA, and various state agencies.  His extensive regulatory experience spans all corners of the investment business.  He has represented clients in matters ranging from startups to divestitures, including a recent multi-billion dollar transaction on behalf of a Fortune 100 client.  Through this experience, Dan has developed expertise and judgment that major financial firms continually call on to resolve some of the most complex issues in the securities industry.  

In addition to providing regulatory advice, Dan represents US financial firms in significant litigation and arbitration matters.  He has handled numerous federal and state court litigation matters on behalf of his clients.  He also regularly handles customer disputes brought in FINRA and AAA arbitration forums.  Dan's extensive knowledge of the industry uniquely positions him to defend such disputes.

  • Successfully resolving high-stakes regulatory enforcement matters; 
  • Advising firms regarding their obligations under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and related regulations; 
  • Representing firms in connection with sensitive regulatory, subpoena, and law enforcement requests; 
  • Directing significant internal AML/fraud investigations; 
  • Advising bank- and insurance- holding companies with affiliated investment operations; 
  • Negotiating settlements with financial regulators; 
  • Advising financial firms with day-to-day operational and customer complaint issues;
  • Representing clients in federal and state litigation, as well as alternative dispute resolution forums (e.g., FINRA, the AAA).
