Biography

Waheed is an associate in the Dallas office of Norton Rose Fulbright. His practice primarily focuses on patent infringement litigations.  A Patent Attorney registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Waheed also practices in patent prosecution.

Before joining the Firm, Waheed served as a law clerk to the Honorable David C. Guaderrama of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.

Waheed has an electrical engineering background, which includes a decade of industry experience.  Prior to his law career, Waheed worked as an integrated-circuit design engineer at several blue-chip semiconductor companies and designed microprocessors (x86, SPARC®, and ARM® architectures), smartphone SoCs, flash memories, and chips for network routers and switches.  He designed a wide variety of analog and digital circuits, including control logic, flip flops and latches, register files, memory cells, operational amplifiers, phase-locked loops, and voltage regulators. Waheed developed software and GUIs for analyzing circuit performance and researched effects of manufacturing variability on product yields.

Waheed has handled patent cases in federal courts across the country including in Texas, California, Florida, and Virginia, as well as in the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML).

  • Defended a financial services provider in a three-patent case involving mobile apps, iOS/Android Operating Systems, and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) cryptographic protocols (W.D. Texas)
  • Defended a voice and data communication services provider in a nineteen-patent case involving Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL and VDSL) technologies and DSLAM/modem hardware and firmware  (W.D. Texas)
  • Defended a network equipment manufacturer in a case involving Internet gateway routers, firewall, and network security (E.D. Texas)
  • Defended a voice and data communication services provider in a five-patent case involving Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks (GPON), Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), and Resilient Packet Ring (RRR) technologies (E.D. Texas)
  • Defended a music performing rights organization in a four-patent case involving audio signal recognition technology (E.D. Texas)
  • Defended multiple defendants in patent cases involving geocoding and geographic search engine (E,D. Texas)
  • Defended a telecommunication and data services provider in a six-patent case involving Location Based Services (LBS), geocoding, navigation, and search engine technologies (N.D. Texas)
  • Defended a network equipment manufacturer in a case involving Internet gateway routers and Ethernet technology (N.D. California)
  • Defended multiple defendants in the hospitality industry in patent cases involving online ticketing systems (S.D. California)
  • Defended a bank in a patent case involving secure online banking technology (S.D. Florida)
