Biography

Joanna Taylor is a project finance lawyer based in Melbourne.

Joanna's area of work is in advising sponsors and financiers in relation to the development, acquisition and restructuring of infrastructure and energy projects. She has extensive experience in project finance in a broad range of sectors, including renewable energy, power, transport and public private partnerships.

  • East Rockingham Resource Recovery Facility - Advised the financiers to the Tribe/New Energy East Rockingham waste to energy project in Western Australia.
  • Kwinana waste to energy project - Advised DIF as majority equity investor on the development and financing of the Kwinana waste to energy project in Western Australia.
  • Rodd's Bay – Advised the Sponsor (United Green) on the mezzanine facility for the Rodd's Bay solar farm in Queensland.
  • Genex solar portfolio financing – Advised the Sponsor (Genex) on its solar portfolio financing for the Jemalong and Kidston solar projects, including a senior facility and a mezzanine Holdco facility.
  • Lal Lal Wind Farm - Advised the financiers (EDC, NAB, SMBC and Westpac) on the development and financing of the Lal Lal Wind Farm in Victoria.
  • Lincoln Gap Wind Farm - Advised the financiers on the Nexif Lincoln Gap wind farm project in South Australia, including the subsequent restructure in 2020.
  • Crudine Ridge Wind Farm – Advised the Sponsor (CWP) on the development of the Crudine Ridge Wind Farm.
  • Ararat Wind Farm – Advised the financiers to the Ararat Wind Farm, including the subsequent refinancing.
  • Sapphire Wind Farm - Advised the Sponsors (CWP and Partners Group) on the development of the Sapphire Wind Farm in NSW, including the subsequent restructure in 2021.
  • Bodangora Wind Farm - Advised the financiers (Nord LB and CEFC) on the development and financing of the Infigen/GE Bodangora wind farm project in NSW.

Infrastructure

  • Frankston Hospital Redevelopment PPP – Advised the winning Exemplar Health consortium (consisting of Capella Capital, Lendlease, Honeywell and Compass) on the Frankston Hospital Redevelopment PPP.
  • New Footscray Hospital PPP – Advised the Exemplar Health consortium (consisting of Capella Capital, Lendlease and Spotless) on its bid for the New Footscray Hospital PPP.
  • Suburban Roads Upgrade Program PPP – Advised the Connecting Melbourne Consortium (consisting of Capella Capital, Lendlease, BMD Constructions and Decmil) on its bid for the Suburban Roads Upgrade Program PPP in Victoria.
  • SICEEP - Advised the financier on the refinancing of the Sydney International Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Centre PPP in 2019.
  •  Outer Suburban Arterial Roads PPP – Advised the Western Roads Partnership Consortium (consisting of Capella Capital, Lendlease and BBGI) on its bid for the Outer Suburban Arterial Roads PPP in Victoria.
  • QEII Carpark PPP – Advised the Sponsor (Capella Capital) in relation to the refinancing of the QEII Carpark PPP in Western Australia.
  • Reliance Rail PPP Refinancing - Advised a large syndicate of domestic and foreign banks on the Reliance Rail PPP Refinancing.
  • James Cook University Student Accommodation PPP – Advised the Exemplar consortium (consisting of Capella Capital, ADCO, John Laing, DIF and ISS) on its bid for the James Cook University Student Accommodation PPP project.
  • EGRP - Advised the financiers in relation to the 2018 and 2020 refinancings of the Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison Project.
  • Various PPPs - Advised the financiers to the refinancings of the Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison PPP, the New Bendigo Hospital PPP, the Sunshine Coast Hospital PPP and the Sydney International Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Centre PPP in 2015.
  • Grafton Prison PPP - Advised the financiers to a consortium (consisting of Capella Capital, GEO and Lendlease) on its bid for the Grafton Prison PPP.
  • Victorian Schools PPP - Advised AMP Capital on the acquisition and refinancing of the Victorian Schools PPP.
  • ANU Student Accommodation PPP - Advised the financiers to AMP Capital's bid for the ANU Student Accommodation PPP.
  • University of Wollongong Student Accommodation PPP - Advised the financiers to the Innovative Student Living consortium (comprising AMP Capital, Hansen Yuncken and Spotless) bid for the University of Wollongong Student Accommodation PPP.
  • University of Tasmania Student Accommodation PPP - Advised AMP Capital on its bid for the University of Tasmania Student Accommodation PPP.
  • Royal North Shore Hospital PPP - Advised AMP Capital as successful bidder to acquire the Royal North Shore Hospital PPP and corresponding refinancing.
  • Toowoomba Road PPP – Advised the financiers to the Rangelink consortium (consisting of Meridiam, Bouygues, Fulton Hogan and Wagners) on its bid for the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing road PPP.
  • Sydney Light Rail PPP - Advised the financiers to the ALTRAC consortium in relation to its successful bid for the Sydney Light Rail PPP (awarded PPP Deal of the Year, PFI Awards 2015).
  • Perth Stadium PPP - Advised the Confidem consortium (consisting of Capella, John Holland and Spotless) on the $700 million Perth Stadium Design Build Finance and Maintain PPP project.
