Sue Ann Gan is a shipping lawyer based in Singapore.
Sue Ann has specialised in maritime law since 2005. She read law at the University of Leicester and completed a masters in maritime law at University College London (LL.M (Maritime Law)).
Prior to joining Norton Rose Fulbright, Sue Ann practised with a local shipping law firm, focussing on shipping litigation and arbitration. She has been involved in a variety of matters ranging from wet and dry shipping work. She also has hands-on experience with arresting ships in Singapore.
Her shipping litigation background prior to joining Norton Rose Fulbright in 2008 has equipped her to deal with complex issues that arise in risk management and restructuring matters (including workouts and rehabilitation process). She regularly conducts due diligence exercises and advises lenders and shipowners on bankability, risk and liability issues in relation to shipping projects.
Sue Ann's practice also includes acting for banks, financial institutions and owners on a wide range of transactions, for all asset classes. She has experience in syndicated and structured debt financing and export credit financing.
She has previously been seconded to BP, Gazprom and a Japanese ship owning company.
She has been recognised by the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2017 and 2018 as a Next Generation Lawyer in the shipping sector in Singapore. More recently, she was recognised by Singapore Business Review as being one of Singapore's top 20 most influential legal minds under 40 for 2018.
