Biography
Fiona is Counsel in the firm’s global infrastructure, mining and commodities group, and joined the firm in 2015. She has extensive experience of a wide range of banking and finance transactions, in particular in structured trade and commodity finance and trade finance. Additionally, she has acted on several project finance and acquisition finance transactions during the course of her career.
Fiona acts for banks, DFIs, traders and exporters on a variety of cross-border financings in emerging and developed markets within the energy and natural resources sector. Many of the deals she has worked on involve export credit agencies or some form of insurance from mutilateral organizations.
Fiona ’s work in the structured trade area includes pre-export and prepayment financings, borrowing base facilities, tolling facilities, inventory finance, repos and other off-balance sheet financings. Fiona's experience in trade finance includes letters of credit and other off-balance sheet instruments financings, receivables purchase, invoice discounting and supply chain finance. She also has experience in providing non-transactional services, including advice on trade finance instruments, restructurings and pre-insolvency matters.
Having trained and qualified in 2005 at one of London’s Tier 1 trade law firms, and having further worked at a leading UK law firm, Fiona has extensive industry experience. In addition to working in London, she has worked in Paris, Madrid and Dubai where she gained in-depth knowledge of these financial markets.
