Biography

Jonathan Dueck practises primarily in commercial and corporate litigation, with a focus on construction disputes, creditor enforcement actions, and general contract and tort disputes. He has argued matters in both Provincial Court and the Court of Queen's Bench and has assisted clients throughout the litigation process, including document review, mediation, questioning, and cross-examination. His range of litigation experience includes builders' lien disputes, foreclosures and judicial sales, defamation defence, and both large- and small-scale construction litigation.

Jonathan summered with our Calgary office in 2016 and completed his articles with us in 2018. Before his legal career, Jonathan had extensive experience in sales and sales management.

  • Acting on behalf of a major construction company in both a multi-million dollar claim and defence to counterclaim against a project owner and in defending against numerous sub-contractor claims
  • Acting on behalf of multiple financial institutions and a receiver to facilitate judicial sales of debtor properties
  • Acting on behalf of an international financing company to enforce a domestic judgment with international components
  • Acting on behalf of an automobile dealership in defence of a negligence claim
  • Acting on behalf of an individual in defence of an internet defamation claim
  • Acting on behalf of a corporation and its directors in defence of a contractual claim for shares in a commercial aircraft
  • Acting on behalf of an oilfield services company in defence of a claim for civil fraud, breach of contract, and commission of various torts
  • Acting on behalf of an international seismic exploration company in a tax-based claim against an employee for breach of contract
  • Acting on behalf of a resort properties company in a claim against property owners
  • Managing international review teams in a large-scale document review for a construction dispute, and spearheading multiple smaller-scale document reviews
