Biography

Yasmine is an associate based in Durban, specialising in competition, consumer, international trade, regulatory, transport and admiralty law.

Yasmine has unique experience providing commercial and pragmatic advice across all areas of her expertise.

Yasmine advises and represents clients in all areas of competition law in South Africa and Namibia, including assisting clients with mergers and acquisitions, investigations by competition authorities, conducting market assessments, providing fact-specific competition advice, training clients on competition law compliance and developing bespoke competition compliance programs.

Yasmine advises on all aspects of consumer law, including drafting and structuring franchise and licencing agreements; advising on, auditing and drafting terms and conditions for promotional competitions; advising on and assisting clients with product recall, product labelling, product development and regulation; and consumer and sector specific legislation and compliance.

Yasmine has extensive experience drafting and negotiating international trade and transport agreements, including back-to-back buy-sell agreements in the commodities and soft commodities space. Her commercial, admiralty and maritime experience gives her unique insight and understanding into these complex agreements.  Yasmine also regularly drafts and advises on aircraft lease, sale and hangar lease agreements; and warehousing and logistics agreements.

In the Ports regulatory space, Yasmine regularly advises and represents port terminal operators in the energy, commodities and warehousing sectors  on leases and lease negotiations, disputes, and appeals and complaints to the Ports Regulator of South Africa.

Yasmine holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree with a double major in Law and Media, and a postgraduate LLB degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (cum laude), and read for a Masters degree (LLM) in Commercial Law, specialising in Competition Law and International Trade Law, at the University of Cape Town. Yasmine is also a Notary Public.
