Biography

Alex Stewart-Moreno is a corporate and M&A lawyer based in London.

He practices across industries such as renewable energy and the energy transition, infrastructure and utilities, consumer goods and commodities. Alex's experience includes advising on mergers and acquisitions, investments and disposals, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and general corporate, regulatory and governance matters. 

Alex trained at the firm and qualified as a solicitor in 2022. He was seconded to Nomad Foods Europe Limited as part of his training.

Advising:

  • Infinity Power, on its acquisition of Lekela Power, a multi-jurisdiction Africa based wind power platform,  from a consortium led by Actis and Mainstream funds, making Infinity the largest renewable company in Africa and, at the time, being Africa's largest renewable energy deal to date.
  • Quinbrook, the specialist global investment manager focused on renewable energy, storage and grid support infrastructure on the acquisition of Mallard Pass Solar Farm Limited, a 324MWp consented solar farm project which will be connected to a 400kV bay at National Grid Ryhall Substation.
  • RWE, the UK's largest power generator and one of the largest renewables developers on its acquisition of JBM Solar, in a competitive auction sale process, placing the company amongst the top three developers in the UK.
  • Hermes Infrastructure, on its sale of a fully operational portfolio of c.9,500 rooftop solar assets to a subsidiary of Atrato Onsite Energy plc.
  • Appian Capital Advisory, on its joint venture with Detronic Energia for the development of a portfolio of 20 small-scale solar power plants with a total capacity of 62.4MWp located in Minas Gerais.
  • Baker Hughes Energy Services, the energy technology company,  on its strategic investment in Elcogen Group, the manufacturer of solid oxide electrolyser cell technology for  green hydrogen production.
  • ib vogt - on the sale of its portfolio of North African solar parks.
  • Good Energy Group plc, on its successful defence of a hostile takeover from Ecotricity Group Limited.

Infrastructure and Utilities

Advising:

  • Kemble Water, the  investment vehicle for the shareholders of Thames Water, in connection with its equity funding support, corporate governance and regulatory matters and obligations, and in the context of Thames Water's PR24 regulatory process and restructuring plan.
  • Quinbrook, the specialist global investment manager focused on renewable energy, storage and grid support infrastructure on the acquisition of Cilfynydd Grid Services Limited, as part of its synchronous condenser platform.
  • Gore Street Energy Storage Fund, London's first listed energy storage fund, on its acquisition of a 200MW battery storage project from Kona Energy.
  • Tiger Infrastructure, the specialist in growth capital for middle market infrastructure, on the merger of its subsidiaries, Secure Web Services Limited and Cadence Networks Ltd with Voneus Broadband, creating a joint venture between Tiger and Macquarie Group.

Consumer Goods and Technology

Advising:

  • Nomad Foods, owner of brands including BirdsEye, Findus and Iglo, on its acquisition of Fortenova Group's Pan South East European  frozen foods division for €615 million.
  • Investors in Demica – on the sale of Demica, a supply chain finance platform to some of the world’s largest banks and major corporate entities and one of the largest platforms of its type globally, to NASDAQ listed Fidelity Information Services for approximately $250m.  Demica’s long-term investors included TOMS Capital, JRJ Group and 76 West Holdings.
  • Minitab, LLC, on its purchase of Simul8 Corporation Ltd, a discrete event simulation company.
