Sandeep Patel is an associate in our Toronto office concentrating on technology, cybersecurity and data privacy. Sandeep has experience drafting and advising on commercial transactions involving information technology, privacy and intellectual property.  He advises clients on complying with Canada’s privacy legislation and is also experienced in acting as breach counsel to clients responding to cybersecurity incidents.

With a background in mechanical engineering, Sandeep has previously worked in the automotive, mining, and recycling industry.  He began his legal career as a technical consultant at another full-service law firm, where he helped prosecute electrical and software-related patent applications.

Sandeep joined us in 2020 as a technical consultant, assisting with drafting and prosecuting mechanical-related patent applications, particularly inventions in the aerospace industry. He rejoined the firm as a summer law student in 2021 after enrolling in law school.  Sandeep returned to article with the firm in 2023-2024, during which he completed a secondment at GlaxoSmithKline where he gained experience working on commercial and regulatory matters in the pharmaceutical industry.
