Biography
Ehren Terenyi is a construction and engineering lawyer based in Melbourne with experience in major projects and infrastructure and disputes. He has had exposure to wind, solar and battery renewables projects, energy & resources, project delivery methods, telecoms and transport.
Ehren has a focus on live project dispute avoidance in complex infrastructure and engineering disputes, including PPPs, hospital, road, mining and renewables projects. He has advised and acted for a broad range of clients, including sponsors, principals, financiers, developers, contractors and consultants in relation to all stages of project delivery.
Ehren has assisted clients across Australia and in Africa, providing advice and instructing in all courts and tribunals, as well as arbitrations, expert determinations and adjudications under the various security of payment regimes.
As well as extensive contract administration and project advice, Ehren's experience includes secondments to mining project in Mozambique and a major Port.
Prior to joining the firm, Ehren worked in construction front- and back-end roles in two top tier law firms and was an Associate to the Honourable Justice Pagone in the Federal Court of Australia. He also managed a consulting engineering firm for 10 years prior to coming to law.

Projects, construction, engineering, finance and infrastructure:
- A public company building a graphite processing facility. Seconded to site in Mozambique as a contract administrator and acted in dispute resolution negotiations in South Africa
- An energy company on a battery storage project and drafting the EPC contract
- A contractor in relation to $1bn+ contractual and misleading representations claims on a transport infrastructure PPP
- A bid to become commercial partner of an international airport and build a runway
- Seconded as legal counsel to a port, advising on construction and dredging contracts, property and access, and interface with a major infrastructure PPP
- Various construction project insolvencies, negotiating with replacement contractors, termination of contracts, claiming security
- The owner / builder in relation to a Hospital PPP and negotiation of key subcontracts
- Project Co in for the construction of a mine water treatment plant. Security of payment claims, contract administration and disputes
- Financiers for construction and operation of Solar Farms, Wind Farms and for a shallow water port and grain transhipment vessel
- The demolition of an aluminium smelter facility and sale and redevelopment of the site
- A property investment fund manager on a major NSW residential property development, refinancing and contract negotiation
- Various clients on the suite of Australian Standard D&C construction contracts, PPPs and FIDIC Red, Yellow, and Silver
Litigation, arbitration and disputes:
- QCLNG gas pipeline arbitration in Queensland
- Jemena Gas Networks in proceedings brought by AGL in a meter data dispute under a reference services agreement in the NSW Supreme Court and Court of Appeal
- Instructing counsel during a five-week hearing of two case studies at the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse
- Lane Cove Tunnel proceedings in the NSW Supreme Court
- Associate to the Honourable Justice Pagone, Judge in charge of the national taxation list, in the Federal Court of Australia. Worked on commercial, tax, administrative law and migration matters
- A manufacturer defending a shareholder oppression claim in the Supreme Court of Victoria, and a claim and counterclaim in VCAT and the County Court of Victoria
- A shopping centre owner defending multitenant claims following the failure of the Melbourne Observation Wheel
Commercial and contracts:
- A sovereign wealth fund investing in a new building at Barangaroo and negotiations with the developer
- The issuer of a $1bn+ USPP and a $3bn+ Medium Term Note refinancing
- A State government on a systems integration project upgrading to automate an transport infrastructure asset
- A renewable energy company in relation to the implementation of a global asset operating monitoring and control system
- A national gas and pipeline industry organisation on industry issues, licences and Environmental Management Plans
- A standards committee on the development of a pipeline welding standard
