Biography
Wilko van Weert is a lawyer in the Brussels and Amsterdam offices with a focus on EU, Dutch and Belgian competition law.
Wilko's experience in high-profile international cartel investigations has allowed him to provide clients with convincing cartel defense analysis and persuasive and vigorous representation before the European Union's enforcement agencies and judiciary. He has represented clients in a number of civil claims cases related to cartel conduct.
Wilko has significant experience with intellectual property-related matters connected to the technology and life sciences sectors, including technology transfer, patent pools, standard setting and generic entry. Over recent years, Wilko has worked on a number of renewable energy projects, involving wind, solar and bio-methane solutions.
He works with a wide spectrum of industries such as FMCG, high-tech electronics, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and automotive. Wilko is leading the compliance efforts of a number of companies and associations in these areas.
He has frequently acted in support of M&A transactions by obtaining regulatory clearance under the EU and national merger control regimes and has defended the interests of third parties in a number of landmark merger control cases.
As a former senior official with the Dutch national regulator, Wilko has the network, insights and experience to facilitate a fruitful interaction with the relevant authorities.
