Kate is a commercial lawyer in the projects team based in Durban.
Kate is a consultant in the projects team and focuses on the construction, engineering and energy sectors. She has advised on various construction contracts and has dealt with litigation and arbitrations in respect of various leading construction matters both locally and internationally.
Kate has represented developers, landowners, contractors, sub-contractors, tenants and government authorities both locally and internationally. This includes the negotiation and drafting of construction contracts, including the D&C, O&M, EPC, FIDIC, NEC, JBCC suites of agreements, as well as tailored pro forma contract solutions and stream procurement. She has also dealt with any disputes when they have arisen in the performance of these contracts. Kate has experience in various renewable energy projects under the REIPP programme in South Africa and also has experience in drafting PPA's and advising on regulatory compliance and risks associated with construction and energy projects.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (majoring in industrial psychology and law) and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. Kate has worked for top tier law firms in South Africa, Qatar and Australia, as well as been employed as Senior Legal Counsel for a fortune 1000 company which primarily dealt with the manufacture and installation of certain key components for the Medupi and Kusile Power Stations in South Africa. Kate joined Norton Rose Fulbright in 2020.
