Biography

Kate is a projects and finance lawyer based in Brisbane.

Kate has a particular focus on energy and infrastructure projects, having worked on numerous transactions for sponsors, developers, funders and financiers, both on greenfield and brownfield assets and in the secondary market. She also has experience negotiating power purchase agreements for both supplier and offtaker.

Her energy experience covers a variety of generation technology types including solar, wind, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, hydrogen and energy from waste.

Her infrastructure experience includes accommodation, water infrastructure and transportation projects.

Prior to joining the firm

  • advising the club of Lenders to Vena Energy's Wandoan Battery Energy Storage Project. The first non-subsidised, non-recourse BESS in Australia.
  • advising Vena Energy as Sponsors and developers of the Tailem Bend Solar Project, including project documentation and financing arrangements.
  • advising Suez Recycling and Recovery on the East Rockingham Waste to Energy project in its capacity as operator and waste supplier. 
  • advising Solar United Network on its acquisition of the Merredin Solar Farm in West Australia from Risen Energy.
  • advising BANPU Energy Australia on its acquisition of the Beryl and Manildra Solar Farms from New Energy Solar, in particular on project documentation and financing arrangements.
  • advising the Australian Renewable Energy Agency on more than 20 funding agreements supporting the development of utility scale solar, battery storage, hybrid generation and virtual grids including project due diligence and intercreditor issues.
  • advising Transport for NSW on the financing interfaces for the Next Generation Rollingstock Project.
  • advising Campus Living Villages on the project deed, downstream delivery and financing of the Leicester Street Student Accommodation project.
