Heather Clark

Biography

Heather Clark is a member of the firm's litigation and disputes team and is based in Quebec City. Her experience covers a wide range of legal systems and industry sectors, including construction, engineering, defence, electricity (nuclear and renewable energy), and pharmaceuticals. She has served as counsel and tribunal secretary in a number of international commercial and investor-state arbitrations. 

Prior to joining us, Heather served as legal adviser to Judge Herbert Kronke at the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague. She previously practiced international arbitration and litigation in the London, Paris, and New York offices of a leading international law firm, and served as assistant legal counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration, also in The Hague. Heather has a background in engineering physics and began her career as a patent agent with an intellectual property boutique in Ottawa. She is an active member of the international arbitration community in Canada and abroad.

  • Counsel to a contractor in a domestic ad hoc arbitration concerning marine infrastructure projects
  • Counsel to an energy company in an international arbitration under the ICC rules concerning the construction of a nuclear power plant
  • Counsel to a consortium of contractors in an international arbitration under the ICC rules concerning an infrastructure project in Central America
  • Counsel to a consortium of contractors in an international arbitration under the ICC rules concerning an infrastructure project in North Africa
  • Counsel to an engineering company in an international arbitration under the SIAC rules concerning the design and supply of equipment for a mining project in Southeast Asia
  • Assistant to the tribunal in an investment treaty arbitration under the ICSID rules concerning a renewable energy investment in Western Europe
  • Tribunal secretary in an international arbitration under the ICC rules concerning the acquisition of a power plant in Eastern Europe
  • Tribunal secretary in an international arbitration under the ICC rules concerning an investment in a Southern European engineering company
