Biography

Alex Scandroli represents individual and corporate clients in criminal investigations and enforcements matters, including in investigations by the US Department of Justice, the US Securities and Exchange Commission and various State Attorneys’ General Offices. Alex has particular experience advising clients in the FinTech and energy industries and has worked on major cross-border investigations arising from public corruption allegations.  Alex’s practice also includes handling all aspects of complex civil litigation, including work on dispositive issues and appeals.

  • Represents US technology company in Defense of Trade Secrets litigation arising from former employees’ misappropriation of confidential and proprietary technologies to create a competing software company.
  • Represents a construction developer in federal and state investigation pertaining to the use of public funds to convert underutilized buildings into affordable housing for low-income Californians.
  • Represented an energy corporation in environmental litigation involving claims brought by government entities with potential liability of over $50 million.
  • Represented a crypto-currency exchange in investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and parallel Department of Justice investigation alleging exchange offered unregistered securities, and defrauded investors through offering an earned interest crypto product.

  • Pro Bono Award for role in litigation successfully challenging state and local practices of seizing and destroying the possessions of unhoused individuals.
  • Pro Bono Award for obtaining an evidentiary hearing in state habeas appeal of an unconstitutionally secured death penalty conviction in Alabama (appeal still pending).
