Biography

Laura is a corporate and commercial lawyer based in Brisbane.

She specialises in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, consumer markets, warranty and indemnity insurance, and energy and resources law.

Laura has acted on a broad range of multi-jurisdictional M&A transactions and advised on numerous general corporate and commercial matters. She has a strong reputation for her ability to manage complex obstacles that arise during the life of a transaction.

Laura previously undertook an international secondment to the Norton Rose Fulbright headquarters in London, where she was involved in a number of asset finance transactions. She worked with clients and local counsel throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, as well as Norton Rose Fulbright colleagues across the global network.

Laura was named as a Finalist in Lawyers Weekly's 30 under 30 Awards in both the categories of Mergers and Acquisitions and Commercial (2023) and recognised as a Rising Star in Australasian Lawyer's Rising Stars list (2024).

  • Volution Group plc – on its proposed acquisition of the Fantech Group in Australasia from the owners of the UK-based Elta Group Ltd.
  • PETstock Group
    • on an agreement to sell a majority equity stake to Woolworths Group;
    • on the acquisition of the Best Friends Pets and My Pet Warehouse retail networks;
    • on the acquisition of a $50 million minority stake in PETstock by Auctus Alternative Investments;
    • on the acquisition of the Hart Retail Group in South Australia; and
    • on various other acquisitions and investments.
  • Stanmore Resources Limited – on its acquisition of all of the shares in Dampier Coal (Queensland) Pty Ltd, which owned an 80% interest in BHP Mitsui Coal. This included several significant metallurgical coal mining projects, including South Walker Creek and Poitrel mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, as well as the Wards Well coal project.
  • GreenFort Capital – on the establishment of a joint venture with Gaw Capital in a land lease community platform.
  • Sandvik AB – on its acquisition of the mining related business of Schenck Process Group.
  • Retail Food Group 
    • on an agreement to purchase 100% of the share capital of CIBO Espresso Holdings Pty Ltd; and
    • on an agreement to purchase the trade and assets of Beefy's Pies including the share capital of Beefy's Pty Ltd. 
  • Metcash – general corporate and commercial advice, including in relation to the sale and/or buy-back of various IGA and Cellarbrations retail sites. 
  • Loan Market Group – on the acquisition of National Australia Bank's broker aggregation business.
  • W&I insurers – regularly advises insurers including AIG, Liberty GTS, Fusion, Tokio Marine HCC, Beazley, CFC and Brockwell in connection with underwriting W&I insurance policies across a range of industries and transaction structures.
