Norton Rose Fulbright advised Australian Ethical on its superannuation fund merger with Christian Super

Australia Press release December 2022

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Australian Ethical on its successful superannuation fund merger with Christian Super. Australian Ethical’s membership now stands at more than 110,000 investors with more than $8 billion in funds under management.

Australian Ethical is a superannuation fund manager that began operations in 1986, and seeks out positive investments that support people, quality and sustainability. Australian Ethical goes beyond offering an ”ethical option”, with their entire range of funds being rigorously screened on ethical and investment merits.

The Norton Rose Fulbright team advised Australian Ethical on all aspects of the transaction including preparation and negotiation of the core deal documents, as well as markets, insurance and associated regulatory advices.

Norton Rose Fulbright funds and financial services partner Jon Ireland commented: “We are delighted to have assisted our client Australian Ethical with this transformational merger with Christian Super.”

The firm’s multi-practice team, led by Jon, was supported by insurance partner Ray Giblett, and corporate partner Jeremy Wickens who respectively had key roles in relation to the policy review and market announcements. Other key team members included senior associate Merren Taylor (superannuation/funds), senior associate Tim Chan (insurance), senior associate Stephen Lee (funds), lawyer Remy Michelson (funds), senior strategic advisor John Elliott (M&A) and senior associate Oliver Kabongo (M&A).

Earlier this year, Norton Rose Fulbright assisted Australian Ethical launch its first ever actively managed ethical ETF.
