Biography
Max Brighton is a litigation and disputes lawyer based in Sydney.
Max's practice areas include contract and commercial disputes, regulatory investigations, class actions, defamation and personal injury matters. He acts for clients in all industries and sectors with a focus on the consumer markets, technology and financial industries.
His contract disputes experience includes advising clients on shareholder and partnership agreements, contracts for goods or services, contracts for purchase or sale of land and commercial leases.
Max offers a strong combination of technical knowledge and strategic thinking. His approach is to work closely with clients to first understand their legal risks and options, and then implement a strategy to achieve their desired outcomes.

- Acciona - in relation to Supreme Court proceedings against Transport for NSW relating to the Sydney Light Rail.
- Rural Fire Service Brigades and Donations Fund – obtaining judicial advice from the Supreme Court of New South Wales in relation to the proposed distribution of $51M in unexpected donations in a manner consistent with the Trustee Act 1925.
- Dr Peter Brown – defending contested regulatory investigations into the performance and practice of a doctor the subject of several inquiries by the Medical Council of New South Wales and the Health Care Complaints Commission.
- Australian real estate company - in Supreme Court proceedings brought by a former director seeking leave to bring a derivative action proceeding against advisors on a large sale of land
- Australian import company - in Supreme Court proceedings against the company responsible for storing imported goods and its insurer in relation to a fire which destroyed a warehouse
- Directors of Australian companies - in disputes with other directors and business partners arising from the dissolution of business ventures
- Australian infrastructure company - in several complex personal injury matters
- International software company - in Supreme Court proceedings arising from a project to upgrade the information technology and enterprise resource planning systems of an international retail business
