Biography
Sophie is a commercial real estate lawyer based in Sydney.
She has a wide range of experience advising on real estate transactions including acquisitions, disposals and leasing of commercial, retail and industrial property (including purpose-built facilities). Her clients include major property developers, major corporate landlords and tenants, hotel operators and owners, high-net worth families and individuals, as well as institutional investors.
Sophie also advises on hotel management contracts and acquisitions, disposals and development of hotels including working on bifurcated OpCo/PropCo ownership and transaction structures.
In particular, Sophie has significant experience working with offshore investors looking to invest in Australia, including acting on behalf of overseas clients in respect of their foreign investment proposals which are subject to review by the Foreign Investment Review Board and providing advice necessary towards navigating Australia's foreign investment framework.

- Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) advice to real estate clients on the FIRB aspects of their Australian real estate portfolio including advice on specific acquisitions, exemption certificates and management of the overall FIRB risk.
- FIRB advice in respect of and preparation of transaction documents to secure requisite land tenure rights for renewable projects such as the development of solar farms and wind farms.
- Goodman in respect of their joint venture development (including infrastructure development) with Brickworks at Oakdale East Precincts 2-5 which includes 260,000 sqm of purpose-built facilities, and warehouse and distribution facilities across 50 hectares of land; and in respect of their $100 million purchase of industrial property at 338 Victoria Road, Rydalmere.
- Digital Realty in their sale of two industrial sites with a combined value of $210 million. The sale of the first site proceeded by way of a share sale – sale of a Delaware-incorporated target which held a put and call option to acquire the land – and the second sale proceeded by way of an asset sale.
- GPT Group in relation to their acquisition of commercial office towers at 153 Walker Street ($125 million) and 157 Walker Street from 6 different strata owner-vendors.
- Global aviation training provider CAE (partnering with Qantas) in respect of agreement for lease and long-term lease of a purpose-built flight training facility to be developed by LOGOS.
- Major corporates in relation to their complex leasing arrangements (specialising in purpose-built facilities and/or retail premises) including negotiating leases, agreements for lease / development agreements, landlord’s contributions to fitout and tax effective incentive arrangements.
