Biography

Juliette is a construction disputes lawyer based in Melbourne and has over 10 years' experience in dispute resolution.

Juliette advises a diverse range of industry participants, including head contractors, subcontractors, developers, building surveyors, architects, owners, high net worth individuals, businesses and Government entities in relation to all aspects of construction projects, with a specific focus on "back-end" matters.

Juliette routinely acts for clients in building and construction disputes, including defective building works, claims made under the Security of Payment legislation, claims involving breach of contract, professional negligence, estoppel, misleading and deceptive conduct, combustible cladding and an unreasonable flow of water.

Juliette also has experience advising on clauses in construction contracts, negotiating and drafting variations and amendments to construction contracts, with a particular expertise in negotiating and drafting deeds of settlement and release. 

Juliette has acted in matters before the High Court, the Federal Court, the Supreme Court, the County Court of Victoria, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Magistrates Court.

Juliette also has an interest in cross border disputes having acted in multiple jurisdictions including both in Victoria and New South Wales, and in London. Juliette also has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution including expert determinations and mediations.

  • China Railway Construction Engineering advising on dispute involving defective building works, extensions of time, delay damages, liquidated damages and return of security.
  • CPS Technology & Infrastructure advising on cultural heritage issues associated with the land on which a telecommunications tower was constructed and assisting in negotiating terms of settlement.
  • Hansen Yuncken advising on D&C Contract dispute regarding delay damages and liquidated damages.
  • Icon advising on Homes Victoria ground lease, build-to-rent model Public Renewal Project PPP
  • Tractebel Engineering acting for the design joint venture in advising on the Snowy 2.0 Pumped-Hydro Electric Scheme renegotiation of the project.
  • Kane Contractors on commercial and construction contract disputes and related advice on the operation of various clauses in construction contracts.
