The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reminds employers and workers to recognize the dangers of working in excessive heat.

In order to protect workers, OSHA's mantra is: Water. Rest. Shade.

  • Drink water every 15 minutes
  • Take frequent breaks in the shade to cool down
  • Develop an emergency plan to respond quickly when one shows signs of heat-related illness
  • Provide training on the hazards of heat exposure and prevention of heat illness.
  • Build up a tolerance for working in the heat
