United States | Press release - Recognition | August 2025
The National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL) has honored Fredric Weber (Houston) with the 2025 Carlson Prize.
This annual prize recognizes the authors of the most outstanding scholarly articles submitted for publication in The Bond Lawyer: The Journal of the National Association of Bond Lawyers or on the Association’s website. The prize was awarded to Rick and two co-authors for a series of articles that recount how and why federal regulation of municipal securities offerings developed over time.
Rick previously served as the President, the Treasurer and a Director of NABL, as well as editor of The Bond Lawyer, reflecting his long-standing leadership and involvement with the Association. He previously received the Carlson Prize for a series of Editor’s Notes that described the meanings and derivation of terms used in the municipal securities market. Rick’s practice is focused in public finance, acting as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel, disclosure counsel and borrower's or credit enhancer's counsel.
Founded in 1979, NABL aims to promote the importance and integrity of the municipal market by advancing the understanding of and compliance with the law affecting public finance. Headquartered in Washington, DC, NABL has over 2,300 active members.
The honorees will be celebrated at NABL’s annual conference, The Workshop, in September.
